Historic Bicentennial of Lafayette’s Farewell Tour in 1824

Lafayette, Lafayette, …….. WHO!!!???? Major General Lafayette is coming to Sterling, When,?? This September!! Why, Lafayette’s Fairwell tour, from when?? 1824. Do you know anything about Lafayette??? Ask Seamus Heinrich about Major General Lafayette or Clare Fisher. Clare has read Lafayette daily journal entries from 1824 as he traveled through the East Coast towns and cities, including Sterling Massachusetts. Look for the Sterling Historical Society’s program coming Tuesday, April 9th, 2024 on the History of Lafayette presented by the president of the American Friends of Lafayette. The program will be held in the Legion Hall, School Street right around the corner from the Museum. 7:00 pm. Bring neighbors, friends, all are welcome.
