The Sterling Historical Society (SHS) is a volunteer organization dedicated to preserving the rich history of Sterling, Massachusetts. Our home at 7 Pine Street is in the heart of the Sterling Center Historical District and just a short walk from the Town Common.
Our museum is the perfect place to visit if you have an interest learning about our town's unique heritage. We have an extensive collection of artifacts, research materials and other exhibits on display that allow us to take a look back at the people and events of the past that helped make Sterling what it is today. In addition to our exhibits, we have an extensive library of information and documents, including a repository of records specific to family names and antique homes relevant to Sterling that many find useful with genealogical research. Our museum is open every Tuesday from 9am to Noon and we will gladly open up the museum at other times by appointment.
Interested in becoming a member? We actively seeking new people who have a passion for history and interest in conservation. We would love to meet you! Stop down for a visit to learn more about our organization and find out if a SHS membership is right for you.
